Debra—McMichael's wife—is on the champion's side after betraying her husband weeks prior. She tries to interfere when Mongo locks in the Sleeper Hold on Double J followed by Eddie Guerrero whose plan is to take out the challenger while the referee is distracted but he mistakenly knocks out Jarrett instead.
Capitalizing on all the tomfoolery of the heels, McMichael avenges Jarrett's misdeeds to the crowd's pleasure in witnessing the title change and embracing Mongo's victory.
